I'm wearing a puffy white shirt, a grey vest, a pair of high boots, black trousers, and a tricolor sash. My barricade boy costume is complete. I've got a mirror in my pocket identifying me as Joly, though I lost the flowy hanky my friend lent to me (I plan to take her out for coffee as an apology. It was a very nice hanky.). And I am about as excited for this evening as a six-year-old. My roommate steadfastly refused to come trick-or-treating in our residence with me, but she was a good sport about helping to decorate. Her one request was that we add a Debussy tombstone to our floor's 'cemetery'. So now we have Debussy, Beethoven and ... Horatio Nelson all buried along our hallway. Who cares that they all came from different places? They are all important enough to be put into our decorations.

Technically, I suppose, Halloween is tomorrow. But the in-residence trickortreating happens tonight, so I took advantage of that to wear my Joly costume all day. It suits me, I think I'll wear it every day. I would, too, if the vest didn't belong to a friend of mine (yes, that same friend who lent me the hanky) and if I had more than one white puffy shirt. My roommate would surely stop speaking to me, but I feel certain I could convince her to forgive me. Recently, I learned that filling someone's room with flowers and inviting them to your place for lunch is the thing to do if you wrong them. Hmm ... I might consider this.

Anyway, happy Halloween to all, and don't get swine flu.
